Thoughts:
Seems as though Fitzpatrick is trying to convey the message of a dark or gloomy setting with dusty streets and mysterious people.
Daisy is never mentioned once while Tom and Nick were in New York with Mrs. Wilson.
Myrtle seems to brag about her belongings. The chefs in the kitchen, looks, relatives, etc.
Everything seems to be related back to Gatsby in some nature. Many know him for parties.
After Tom and Myrtle get married the will move away.....but doesn't everyone want to be in the spotlight in this time period?
Tom seems to care about both Daisy and Myrtle but just ignores what people say about Daisy. However, he broke Myrtle's nose because she was talking poorly about her. Everyone quickly left after that incident.
Connections:
Mrs. Wilson blows off a complement directed towards her just as any sophisticated individual would that is too proud to take a complement.
Relation to Gatsby.... West Egg. However, nothing specific is never really told about him.
Questions:
Why would Tom be so enthusiastic to show Nick his mistress if he is related to Daisy?
Why is Tom so close to his mistress's husband? So close to help him fix his car...
Why wouldn't Nick just leave the apartment instead of just coming back to it?
Why is everyone talking about how Daisy is to blame for the relationship with Nick right there?
If Myrtle was so desperate about money then why did she marry a poor man who borrowed a suit for their own wedding?
